Allantoin is an active cosmetic ingredient known for its soothing, regenerative, and moisturising effects on the skin. It helps reduce irritation, calm redness, hydrate, and soften the skin, making it especially suitable for dry and sensitive facial skin, as well as for everyday care of the hands and feet.
It is most commonly obtained naturally from the comfrey plant, but it can also be extracted from chamomile, wheat germ, and beetroot. Allantoin can also be produced synthetically, most often from urea and glycolic acid.
